Opening reception for Nestor Madalengoitia and Jennifer Dooley @ Gallery 40.  What a blast of colors !

Nestor’s work is inspired by the work of the pre-Columbian Peruvian Paracas tapestry with a modern understanding which defines his own visual and conceptual vocabulary that emerged through his focus on the point of intersection between visual effect and the meaning of the subject.

After years of photographing for the sheer joy of it, Jenninfer's photographic "eye" has developed to intuitively seek out anything with colors, shapes and patterns and present it with a creative intention.  She sees human personality, attitude and gesture in the curvature of floral stems and petals.  As flowers decay, these qualities exaggerate and become even more interesting to her.  These floral "personalities" are captured with a macro lens and focus stacking technique for maximum clarity.
