Karen Sion

Karen is an artist living in New York. Working primarily in oils, Karen creates abstract works of art based on color expression, pattern, and rhythm.

In her latest series – universal elements – Karen begins her painting with an image from outer space. This anchors the painting in real life imagery and provides a solid foundation from which to build. The painting then diverges from this image and, as pattern and color interplay take over, becomes a unique expression. “I view my work process as a form of meditation” Karen states, “a way of connecting to something greater than myself. The result is an image that evokes new and unexpected connections from those who view it, as each viewer brings their own unique perspective to the experience.”

Karen is influenced by the abstract designs of artists living and working in the present day; “Living in this world of social media provides a connection to works of art that extend far beyond our immediate region and expose us to ideas we may not otherwise consider”. She looks forward to the growth she will glean from observing these works of art, and from the growth found when looking within.
